Head of School
Alan has a multi-faceted background having studied psychology, economics, history and education at graduate level, and both management and education at post-graduate level.
Having been involved in private, international schools for nearly twenty five years – and a senior schools' leader through the majority of this period, he has always attempted to balance a teaching load with leadership duties, and has duly taught age groups from 8 years to undergraduates – dealing with a variety of subjects including math, English, business and economics. An innovative educator, Alan' ideas have been used in a variety of published materials.
As an experienced schools' inspector, Alan has insight into the essential ingredients which create excellent schools. To this end, he undertook considerable community building in his last schools, creating a superlative level of parental advocacy.
In addition, his appreciation of great teaching was garnered by some years' experience as tutor and lecturer to post graduate students in education, simultaneously working with the National College of England to launch the first professional development courses for international teachers. Courtesy of his involvement in international schools, Alan has also worked with the British Council and advised on courses for young learners.
